Fixing the D starts with getting rid of Brodie. He’s been awful

In what way?

Winnepeg gets a top 6C and a RD. They are currently playing Samberg on his offside which he's been outspoken about not liking and you have a RW as your 2nd line center.

For a team that wants to compete this trade solves some major issues.

He's actually been a bit better the last 2 games.

Samberg has been consistently getting better and better and the Jets appear to be grooming him for the 2LD behind Morrissey. He’s big, mobile, has a good first pass and is cheap for 2 more years. I would say if Chevy was to make a move, it would be for another like him in RD form. Timmins ain’t it.
I would imagine once Heinola is back, Chevy will clear the logjam at left D via trades or waivers.
Domi, while affordable, is only signed this year. His m-o for trades usually involve players under team control or term. I also question your assertion that Domi is a T6C. I’ve watched him for years going back to Junior in London, and while he’s talented, I disagree. He would be fantastic as a LW with Lowry though.

Capfriendly leaf fans will only see Brodie falling over in game 1 but ignore how awful McCabe has been because he hits sometimes. It's nuts

Statistically he's actually been good. Still has very good expected goals against and hasn't gotten scored on much. It blows my mind how he gets crapped on but McCabe gets love despite being terrible
