The problem is that there isn't a window right now. Even next year would be a bit optimistic. Lindholm doesn't get them over that hump cause they just simply aren't close enough as things are.

The thing I don't understand though is in a previous comment saying Fantilli makes Sillinger expendable, yet they're trading all this for center help. Jury is out on Sillinger, but he's looking better so far at the least. Between he, KJ, and Boone I think you have your middle 6 centers and 2nd/3rd line LW (depending if KJ is gonna play C or now). Fantilli may not be ready to be a 1C yet, but they don't need him to be. They need that in 2 years so it really doesn't matter they dont have that rn if he develops.

I don't mind targeting Lindholm to play on the top line till Fantilli is ready and 2nd line after, but the issue is there's no reason to do it at the deadline when they can wait 5 months and target him in FA. Yeah, maybe it gives you a better chance, but that chance isn't worth losing Johnson, Sillinger, and Ceulemans.

The way I see it, this team's window opens in 25-26 at the earliest, but most likely a year after that. If you want to argue that Jarmo could make a shorter term move to maintain his job, I think that's reasonable, but that would be the only logical reason for CBJ to make a trade of this nature.

Obviously fans can't know the situation, but given the way Jarmo's talked about the rebuild the past few years and then general hands off nature of CBJ ownership, I'd think it's likely that he's got a good amount of security to see this out till a lot of the recent top prospects are established in the league. You never know though.

I’m happy to see and appreciate CLB Fans patience and understanding that it’s a process, but I honestly don’t follow the Blue Jackets that much and I’m sorry to say, but I really don’t care what makes sense for them

I’m focussed on making my team better and trying to find trade partners who I think might fit, so reuniting Lindholm with Gaudreau is where I started and I worked from there

Jake Bean has a huge connection to Calgary having been born and playing his junior hockey there. His Dad, John, is a Flames Executive. I targeted him because I believe Hanifin will be Traded and there are Rumors CLB are looking to move him, Boqvist and/or Peeke. We have Weegar & Andersson, so there’s no need for Boqvist. Tanev is getting older and Gudbranson chose to sign in CLB, so Peeke seems like a decent RD Target, so I included him too

If CLB were to acquire Lindholm I assume Jenner would move down to 2C and Fantilli down to 3C, with Roslovic & Texier available if need be, hence why I felt Sillinger may have become expendable. I felt CLB could afford to part with KJ as well

We don’t have a ton of Term or Depth at RD, while CLB has Severson, Jiricek, Boqvist and Gudbranson. So I thought why not bring Ceulemans back to Alberta

It’s not in line with your guys’s visions, whatever, it’s all good and I can appreciate the reasoning. I just want Lindholm to either re-sign or be traded for quality assets already, I trust you can appreciate and understand that part

There you go, in the meantime if Lindholm won’t extend with Calgary, we’re not letting another Johnny Gaudreau situation happen, so will look to Trade him for Young Assets

Perhaps this happens closer too or at the Trade Deadline, but he’ll be moved for assets if he doesn’t re-sign and it won’t be the Flames letting him walk to Free Agency

Yea, you may think you are going to get that kind of return but that is quite unrealistic. Teams know Calgary is over a barrel with this. Lindholm is good but his long term outlook shows a bad contract long term. So anyone trading for Lindholm will likely only pay what the price of a rental is not as though they are keeping him.

On a side note, teams are not going pay premiums on players they have to do tge leg work for a contract.

Think and/or Hope, you better believe it. Who ever thinks or hopes they get less when selling an asset, right!?

Yeah I should have said Sign & Trade, but I’m confident we’ll find another Team to do this with or we’ll get a fantastic return from a contender at the deadline

That Lindholm trade is crazy. Massive overpay, I say this as neither a Flames or Columbus fan. I think you would be lucky to get the equivalent of two later first-round picks for him. If you Sillinger plus a second (becomes a first if he resigns) and B prospect or Bean/Peeke that's probably about right and that's if Columbus wants him.

I don't think Florida makes that trade because it doesn't really make them better. I guess if they literally just want a positional swap they could, but I don't think so.

Leafs trade is close, I think Leafs are probably giving up a little more. The main problem is they are giving up a good roster player so aren't getting way better. Why not Brodie and a first for Tanev no retention and Flames flip Brodie 50% retained for a second.
