Don't be so quick to count them out. Fans and talking heads can say what they want. There's a reason they play the games. I'm jealous of Couturier. Did not expect him to make it back.

TBH, most Flyers fans were mentally and emotionally ready for the rebuild. This is just a fun scenario in case we continue this hard-playing winning streak. Might be a bit too much for Nylander but we shall see what the fanbase says.

Ok. Laughton at 3C with top prospect in Foerester, plus pick upgrade, plus 3M in cap space. Sure.

I doubt the Habs or the Flyers keep up their pace, but for the moment I'm enjoying telling all the "know it all" ACGMs to "stick it"!

Leafs don’t need cap space and that’s not enough incentive to drastically downgrade on a player

Yeah we are going to agree to disagree on Joseph. Too many 4th liners on the team already. Just getting a worse version of Laughton at that point.

I don't think it's the value necessarily, it's the timing - Nylander's familiar with the systems, is a known quantity, and gives the Leafs the best chance of winning this year. Also, I don't think Nylander would be proficient as a top pairing center - the experiment's been tried and it's not generally the best use of his talents.

Without that cap space you’re going to lose him for free anyway 😂

They have plenty of cap space to sign him

Especially bc Laughton isn't worth 3 mill to the Leafs rn and there's no 1st... Sure the prospect is nice but not something I'd want in a Nylander return IMO

I guess I fail at seeing what half a year of Nylander, with no guarantee he resigns with your club, looks like to you in compensation?

Bo Horvat got: 1 2023 1st, a good prospect and a roster player... Nylander should get more than that bc he is a better player than Horvat...

Leafs only get that type of deal if Nylander has signaled he will sign with that team. Horvat immediately signed a long term extension.

And? That's always been part of these kinds of deals... Supposedly Nylander killed a Arizona trade bc he refused to extend with the team...

There are very few teams who have the space to take on his contract PLUS give out the 10M he wants a year. That said, if he wants a contender (which he stated he prefers), the list shrinks. Devils, Buffalo, Detroit are the top teams I see. All contending teams already have 9-12M players.

Every team has at least 10 mill in cap space next summer, meaning they can all fit Nylander in... Meaning they are no boundaries and the Leafs will take the best deal if they have to or can resign Nylander

Yeah personally not interested to move Joseph at all (unless stupid overpay). Like I have been saying since July, moving Kubalik is the way to go to create cap space as he's been redundant since they signed Tarasenko. Not even sure why he was in training camp outside of Dorion being Dorion.

Joseph > Laughton except maybe off the ice?

So if Joseph is a 4th liner, Laughton is barely a 4th liner? Sigh.

More than a 3C, a prospect with more than 12 NHL games of experience who's career highlight is 20 goals in the AHL, and roughly 30-40 draft spots that doesn't even include a 1st round pick.

Would rather take the risk than immediately make the team worse.

And yet every Leafs fan nuts over Knies. Foerester has better numbers than Knies.
