Kings already have Portillo and Rittich in the AHL, this doesn't move the needle if they are giving up someone who will put up 20-25 goals in the NHL.

I'll be honest, I don't quite understand this. Neither of those guys are great (Portillo could become great, but he isn't right now), and the Kings need a guy who might be better than what they have.

Is Driedger going to be a Vezina calibre Goalie? No, probably not, but in the games he has played, he's been ok. But the main thing the kings get in this trade is cap space. Arvidsson is great, but the Kings are winning fine without him, and their biggest need is goalie and D, not forward.

I don't think Driedger is the guy they go with but if they want to be a cup contender, either one of the guys they have needs to play out of their minds, OR they make a trade.

The problem with your logic is that the Kings get something in Driedger they already have in Rittich.

LA paid to get Portillo and they won't block his professional development by obtaining Driedger, he has to stay with the Reign in the AHL.

Driedger is also in the AHL, and doing great, but with Copley's poor play Rittich is likely to be the next man called up in professional games last season he put up .901 SV% over 22 games with the Jets. Over 27 games last season Driedger put up a 0.899 SV% and he's double the cost of Rittich. What value are the Kings getting here, when they are losing a 25 goal scorer for a lateral move at goal? If the Kings wanted Driedger they would have just picked him up off waivers.
