Next year: we trade bahl for futures to recoup some of our investment

Hanafin Nemec. Total cap cost: 24.8 mill
before the 25-26 season we trade Marino to recoup the rest of our investment and very likely get more back as well

Maybe I haven't watched enough Hannifin games but I think he's overrated. I'd rather just keep the guys we have. Bahl and Marino look great this year, neither of them are old, but Marino and Hannfin were in the same draft (2015) and Bahl is under 24. Just keep these guys and we've got Nemec coming next with Casey hopefully being our next stud.

I'd be more than fine shipping mercer for assets and keeping marino and spending 6 mill on a rental winger (eg keeping toffoli) if he's not willing to take a discount to stay in Jersey on a contender, or bridge him even cheaper (Chytil for example got 4.4x4 and that bought I believe 2 of his UFA years)

Boldy went for 7x7, I think mercer is a step below him and with less term and a discount to stay on a contender.

Marino so underrated lol oh my gosh

I'm happy with keeping it as is but my logic for this is:
Improves our D core this year with Hanafin over Smith
Improves our Dcore next year with hanafin over bahl
Hanafin+Casey is similar to Marino+Bahl and we should also get additional assets in the trades (maybe as much as an extra 1st)

This is not a marino for hanafin trade. This is a hanafin for futures, trade bahl this upcoming offseason, trade marino the offseason after that.

Overall the assets should approximately even out in terms of what the devils give up in trades, and what they get back, with the devils probably getting a bit more from trading bahl+marino as they gave up for hanafin.

In all:

Devils get:
2 years of marino, 1 year of bahl, 1 rental year of hanafin+extension+Whatever extra futures they end up with after the swaps are done

Devils give:
2 remaining years of marino, 1 remaining year of bahl

That's what I'd do. If I could get Schmid on the Pyotr deal and Mercer to an 8x6 or something I'd do that if I was Fitzy

I agree with you Hanifin is highly overrated, the devil need Dman who can actualyl defend like Tanev or Zadorov, the devils lack size and physical. hanifin doesnt hit and his d is sus.

Hanafin is a quality PKer and solid defensively while being a great puck mover.
