Teams know the Bruins need cap space for a center. Typically Blake hasn’t spent a 1st for a rental and Ullmark will want too much as a UFA the following year: Kings offer a 2nd and are ok if that doesn’t work. They are gambling that that contract needs to be moved before free agency opens.

Willy loves Toronto and Toronto can surpass that total contract value by offering 9.5M x 8yrs. He's not leaving, much less for the biggest rival of the team he's played on for years, to make the same or less contract value.

Only complaints i have here are minor.

No way in hell Zboril comes back. Why would he ever sign here again even if there was interest?

Needing 3 callups not only did the pass him over, he played 3rd pair on his offside at Prov last night. He has asked for trade when he was buried in Prov before. He’s counting the days to get out of here. Only reason he re-signed last time is he thought he’d be on the main and playing full time and they brought in his childhood best friend Zacha.

If they re-sign Forbort you need puck mover to play with him. Forbort/JH 3rd pair bogs down the transition game.

Boston has 25m in cap space next year and their need for center isn’t that great anymore. So false.

No worries, LA will still wait. Blake has been burned by goalies, even with a stud like Ullmark he’s not spending so much to just get a rental.

A late 1st isn't that much for a proven vezina winner. LA is a goalie like Ullmark away imo.

The last #1 caliber goalie to be traded was Darcy Kuemper. He had 1 year left on his deal. He went for a 1st/Connor Timmins/cond 3rd. All they did was win the cup. 🤷🏻‍♂️

This return is light honestly.

They can wait, by bolstering their defense LA has turned $1M Cam Talbot into a .914% goalie. They are following what Vegas and Minnesota did, I’d expect for them to trade for cheaper options this season like Kahkonen or Lankinen to find budget options they can reup next season in case Roy, Byfield, and Kaliyev need larger contracts.

It would break the internet. I just signed him because I am fan of his. I'd be very happy with a much cheaper option in Reinhart if he hits the market.

LA has has success turning around a lot of goalies into starters. After spending so much on Cal Peterson (and still retaining $2M to not have him play) I don’t expect Blake to make big swings at goal unless they know that player is both proven and will be locked in at an affordable rate (unlikely with Ullmark). LA is getting solid starting goal tending out of a $1M contract, I’m going to trust what they are doing.

Talbots career sv% is .914. They didn’t suddenly turn him into that. Lol.

He’s a few years removed from those stats, what I’m saying is goalies can be a product of their systems. And Talbot already knew he could play in McLellans system. Boston plays very smart defensively and I think Ullmarks numbers are part of that:, the Kings don’t need to buy Ullmark they need to buy good goalies in bad systems.

Nah, he was just behind a swiss cheese d in Ott for 1 year. The 2 years before that in Minn he was .915 and .911.🤷🏻‍♂️

Still, Kings got him at $1M against the cap and he’s our #1, options are out there without moving a 1st. Kings got Korpisalo as part of the Gavrikov trade last season. They can find answers in net without breaking the bank. Their goalie staff have made starter level numbers out of Budaj, Keumper, Campbell, Scrivens, Bernie, etc. It would be great to have Ullmark, but I just don’t see Blake paying that much, I’d try another team.

Not disagreeing with you.

A lot will depend on how this year plays out for LA and where they think there team is.

If the goaltending falls flat and they feel it cost them a chance, i can see they paying for an upgrade.

If they are content with mediocre goaltending and hoping the rest of the team is strong enough to win with it, they won’t.

They’ll make a trade at the deadline to address this for better or worse. With their cap, it will likely be a backup and I think they extend that backup before free agency.
