Isles take the huge risk on Huby's contract and put him on a line with Barzal and Horvat. He is simply not working in Calgary. The Flames significantly cut the term they're on the hook for and provides them with flexibility to flip JGP or possibly buy out Lee in the summer to save cap immediately. Wahlstrom is the lottery ticket attached

Calgary would be silly to not consider that. I'm not saying they should do it but 3 years is so much shorter than 8.

If there were ever a deal on the table to move Huberdeau without retention the Flames would be nuts to not jump on it as quick as they could.

This made me laugh but Lee is 3 years older than Huby. The contract would be brutal on the back end though

Yea but you'd be losing Wahlstrom who is only 23.

I tried it from their POV. You’d have to send down a couple of their bottom 6 forwards (which I imagine is fine - I don’t watch them closely enough but doesn’t look like an issue to me). But no, it looks like it actually fits

Second line of Engvall-Nelson-Palmieri has been outstanding I don’t think he should be the one to go. Pageau does hurt from C depth perspective (unless you broke up Barzal-Horvat, which I doubt). I think the identity line is cooked so I’d be fine with giving Cizikas 3rd line minutes with still capable NHLers and put a bunch of depth pieces on the new fourth
