If they get competent goaltending, it won’t be. My guess is they put a protection on it.

Yeah, the point in getting Hart is to at least get close to a wildcard. If that's the case, they can get competent goaltending, get rid of Campbell, and happily sacrifice a first rounder to do it.

I personally would keep the first round pick, assume they are cutting Campbell next year, and try to acquire the best goalie possible for either a protected pick (like top 10) or Holloway.

100%, but with the way they are playing so far this season, having Carter Hart in goal still earns them a lottery pick.

There is no way they aren’t trading a first without protection. My perspective is they should see what they can get for a prospect like Holloway or maybe second round picks.
