Description

COL trade:
I think a Nosek for Tatar swap makes a lot of sense for both sides. Nosek is the perfect for 4C for COL while Tatar comes back to NJ to reunite arguably the Devils best line of 22-23

CGY trade:
The Devils desperately need a player like Chris Tanev and I think he'd slide in nicely either next to Bahl as a shutdown pair or a partner for Luke to hop up into the play. CGY takes back Smith for cap purposes and a replacement for Tanev for the remainder of 23-24. They also get a quality prospect in Clarke who can step right into the lineup in addition to a 2nd round pick

I mean he is just a rental. For someone whose known for more a shutdown role, no one is gonna give up for a 1st. All teams interested will have later picks obviously as well. If someone actually gave up a 1st, they can have em. Dreger just reported TOR, VAN, NJ interested in Zadorov fyi

Well that was a horrible trade to begin with. Anyone that thought Chiarot was worth a 1st at any point in his career wasn't watching close enough. Florida even added a low level prospect and a 4th. Terrible!

I doubt Colorado goes for that. Tatar has more value to them as a fill in for the top 6 if required than Nosek does as a 4C, they have plenty of guys who can fill that role. The only way I could really see it being a possibility is if Landy is back (unlikely) or they've added someone else like Kane (outside bet) for a cup run. Then it might make sense.

Remember that was a quick preseason deal to free up some cap space not a deadline rental trade. At the trade deadline with retention he would have fetched a late 1st + a B prospect or 2nd/3rd.

Talk to me at the end of the year buddy. You guys started last year 9-10-1 and had every fan flipping out saying you were gonna miss the playoffs and that was with a full roster. We're down 2 top 30 players in the NHL(Jack top 10 and Nico top 30). Both will likely be back in 2-2.5 weeks; we'll address our needs at the deadline

It's different because the losses to your lineup are much more balanced. Losing Hughes and Hischier is like the Rangers losing Panarin and Zibanejad at the same time. If we had lost say Hamilton, Mercer, and Vanecek(our #1D, 2/3C, and starter) that'd be more comparable. It comes down to possession time for the Devils rn. The Devils D looks atrocious because they're constantly in their own zone. When Jack and Nico are playing, they're in the o zone much more. Nico is also a top 5 defensive forward in the NHL

Lose Zibanejed and Trocheck down the middle for the next 10 games and see how well Panarin, Kreider, Laf, etc play. I'm not making excuses, but it's a lot harder to generate when those 2 guys are out. All the guys you listed are good players and some have stepped up(Meier, McLeod, Toffoli) while others have not(Bratt, Haula, Palat) but it's a lot different game when you're playing with Mercer or Haula as opposed to Jack and Nico

Mika hasn’t done anything this year especially at 5v5 and trocheck was mainly playing defense against top lines until chytil got hurt. But like I said players have to step up when needed

Panarin is literally carrying Laffy and trocheck l, cuylle stepped up and Gus stepped up for Fox on the powerplay
