Yup. How’s Eklund development going so far? I remember at the draft where he was projected #3 and he dropped to 8 I believe everyone was surprised.

He’s on a line with Hertl and Zetterland, starting to get some chemistry. he’s added a little weight too.

Hes been one of our best forwards this season (not a long list) but he is one of the only players making us watchable and he looks like a pro. Unfortunately we dont have the talent around him to truly figure out what his ceiling is production wise

The only reason thrun isnt on the roster over Okhotiuk and Emberson is because he isnt waivers eligible. Thrun is just as good now and has a higher ceiling. Also He is essentially David Quinns son

The comp for Washington is nothing. Since Backstrom is now on LTIR and unlikely to ever play again, they don't need to move him. If they were to move him, it would probably in a Shea Weber type deal for a 5th or another low pick.

I don’t think they will trade him at all. He should retire as a Cap.

Agreed, he should retire as a Cap. But I think there's a chance they will move his contract if they know he'll never play again. He can always sign a 1-day to retire a Cap, and LTIR Shenanigans may incentivize them to move his contract at some point, though very unlikely.

Yeah, I only did it to make the floor, he doesn't need to move his family to SJ, he's never going to play again.

Thats reasonable, though I think San Jose would be better positioned to go the Chicago route of overpaying Vets to get to the floor. Don't think Romanov is ready yet, for example.

Yeah, 1 thing I should’ve done is resign Duclair for SJ as a FA after the season.
