Obviously so much hindsight, like we wouldve gotten a different pick without the trade. Would Tarasenko have then signed? We had such little change this offseason so we probably wouldve only signed another depth guy instead lol

Dont get too deep about details here, the point is just looking at how much better this franchise is without making the deal. Goes from a bottom 4-5 prospect pool to league average (I had Perreault 7 on my big board, hes gonna be a stud). Roster is younger and you actually have hope for future

Islanders are going to have a serious cap issue next year. They need to move either JGP or Lee in the offseason.

Not too worried about the cap this offseason. we are gonna be super tight but we always make it "work" (work means we keep the same exact roster and stay very mid)

These moves make us better, we are still very mid but at least have some hope. Tarasenko would have as much of an impact as Horvat and the depth quality is the same.

I would say it's not better. So many things Bo does that Tarasenko doesn't and having Barzal at centre instead of Bo hurts even more. Brighter future though without Bo.

yea every move that makes this roster worse today, the better. This core aint winning a cup and removing this move puts us in a way better spot for the future

I do agree, alot of mediocrity on this roster. Future isn't that bright either. I could see a scenario where, for financial reasons, they want to say least try and sneak into the playoffs every year.

Future is def brighter in this scenario but at the same time do you really want to prolong Lou's reign? The more mid the Isles get, the sooner he will get fired.
