Description
I love POJ and I really hate seeing him be left out of the lineup pretty much every night. With EK and Letang as our more offensive powered defencemen there’s really no need for POJ unfortunately. I just want this guy to be some where else where he can really continue growing his game and get the playing time. I don’t think there’ll be a high price to pay. I’d say a 2nd round pick from a contending team or a 3rd from a not so contending team. He was great last season but when we got off to a rocky start there had to be a fall man in the lineup and it had to be POJ sadly.
Personally I think the same would have to go for Ty Smith. He’s another good young defencemen that should be in the league but just isn’t getting the opportunity in Pittsburgh.
Trades

PIT
With Hanifin likely wanting out, Zadorov wanting out, possibly Tanev on the move as well as Calgary falls apart more and more I can 100% see POJ becoming a fit in Calgary.
    2.
    PIT
If Vancouver really wants another defencemen and for him to be low cost, POJ is a perfect fit for that and with our coaching staff I think he’d really become a hidden gem for us. (I’m a Pens and Nucks fan). And with the injury to Soucy(out for 6-8 weeks)opens up an opportunity for a trade but also opportunity for guys like Wolanin and Hirose to play. But our Management does like former Pens.

Former 1st round pick that i think they wouldn’t mind bringing back.

Calgary isn't in any rush to move anyone and can call up Poirier.

Not to mention they can get defensemen in return from trades.

I don't know what POJ's value is, but it's not a lot. He's lost his spot to career AHLer. He can't be sent down without waivers.

Your best comps are Cal Foote and Ty Smith. You're hoping he's Calen Addison, but he's not. Might be worth 6th-7th if you're lucky. Chances are you are swapping him for depth that's already cleared waivers (Wolanin) or for players that don't need to clear waivers (Hirose).

        A 2nd or 3rd is fantasy land.

POJ is a capable defenseman but the Pens coach doesn't like him. He has no value and won't have any unless someone gets hurt. Ty Smith has the same problem.

POJ I think is a more capable defencemen than Addison. His role is just not needed in Pittsburgh anymore as an offensive defencemen due to Letang and EK. Having a more defensive minded defencemen is what I think Sully wanted and that’s what we got from Ryan Shea who is actually playing some solid hockey for a “career AHLer” as you say.

It’s cause POJ brings a good offensive game. But that’s no longer needed from the blueline with Letang and EK.

Not really much of anyone they can get back in return that’ll be any good to play on the blue line. Not saying POJ would be any better. He’s just a guy that can play in the NHL and has higher upside. Cause any return the Flames would get out of those trades would come from contending teams which would include cap dumps and prospects who are not exactly NHL ready and then obviously draft picks

His accomplishments were inflated by Pitt media, Ty Smith would have beat him out last year if Smith wasn't waiver proof. POJ was and will always be at best a 8th defenseman/AAAA level. Just too physically weak and low hockey IQ. Maybe swap AHL player or futures

The numbers (very small sample size of 4 games) indicate that POJ was a very good with Ruhwedel. They had an expected goal share of 67%. POJ is a quality defenseman.

This year he ranks 4th on the Pens in shot attempts per 60, 4th in Corsi, 2nd in on-ice expected goals against, 1st on on-ice high-danger shots against.

Last year he was the second highest scoring defenseman per 60 and second highest Corsi. Hits last year were 82, making him one hit shy of Victor Hedman. So he is no soft there either.

He is a good player and should 100% be playing for this team.

I think POJ was 100% just a fall man for the blueline but at the same time I hate to say it, it maybe time to move on from him.

I would agree if he was worth something. I'd rather keep him than trade him for a 6th
