Send Levi to be the #1 in the AHL, he needs more time to develop

Then trade for Saros, Sorokin, Varlamov, Merzlinkins, Hart, Grubaeur, Markstrom, Gibson, Allen or Mrazek (maybe Hill if Vegas thinks Thompson is good enough and want more cap space)
Whichever of these guys Buffalo thinks is the answer in nets for this year and the next (I think Levi is probably 2 years from being a real #1 option)

Half of those goalies are awful and have horrendous long term contracts.

The others likely aren't available and/or will cost far too much to acquire

I believe their plan is to let him develop in the NHL and it's hard to see them deviate from it.

Is it good to face the Bruins and get completely smacked down? Depends. They seem to think that Levi has the intestinal fortitude to use it as a learning experience.

I mean just listing who's probably available and your goaltending strategy flat out isn't working
In general even really good goalies shouldn't cost more than a 1st and prospect, Buffalo can trade a top 10 protected 1st and one of it's good but not elite prospects and get a guy like Saros or maybe a mid prospect and a 3rd and get someone like Mrazek who isn't an ideal #1 but, has shown a lot in the league and is playing better than all three Buffalo goalies on a worse team

It just doesn't make sense, if you watch Buffalo play you know they have a good team, their expecting too much from young goalies when they don't have too.

If I was Buffalo, I'd trade Savoie, UPL and a conditional 2nd (becomes a 1st if they get to the 2nd round) for Saros. I'm not sure any team will offer a better prospect and since Buffalo still has Kulich, Benson, Rosen, Ostlund and the young guys already on the team, Savoie IMO is the odd man out and would need to be traded at some point anyway
Boos and Burnzie8_88_4Cup liked this.

It would be nice to know which half of these goalies you think are "awful":
Saros, Sorokin, Varlamov, Merzlinkins, Hart, Grubaeur, Markstrom, Gibson, Allen, Mrazek, Hill

i think any of the above are better options than Buffalo has now.
