I like the concept of trading for Backlund and trading away TDA

You could probably get Monahan instead of Backlund for the same return

Sure, but Backlund is also extended to a relatively-inexpensive two-year extension. That's valuable to the Canes.

This is the exact reason Calgary doesn't do this deal. And I think if TDA is traded, its for lower level futures or a C tier at best prospect - which I am highly in favor of

TDA for stay-at-home #7 makes more sense for the Canes than a prospect. Also, Florida and Carolina are perfect trade partners for such a deal. Florida has a glut of stay-at-home LD and only have two RHD on their team.

But getting another dman back doesn't address the logjam on D - I think thats more of the goal with that kind of deal. Nothing against Kulikov, just not sure thats the type of return Carolina would seek.

I don't think anyone is paying you anything for TDA, a bad person and one of the worst dmen in the NHL
