I didnt put it in the description (adding now, my bad)
Its drafts from the past 23 years. The first draft used here is 2000

Both the Sedins + Roberto were drafted in 99, 97 - otherwise Jumbo among many others would be missing.

Little - actually way too early to put Matthews over many of those names.
Let alone not he HAS NOT surpassed Bergeron, Stammer, and probably Kuch (maybe Kopi and Malkin).
Not in hardware or resume.

He's close but not there yet if you value an entire career vs Matthews 500ish games.

An example I would use for Stamkos, is he had a 60 year, his resume is crazy and he has BATTLED through traumatic injuries' and still been elite.
I value that part of Stamkos career alot.

Im judging purely based on talent alone, he has been consistently elite defensively in recent years (not on bergy level obv)

He's a better all around goal scorer than all those guys and is just an overall better offensive player. Definitely a debate to be had between him and Malkin/Bergy but I'd easily take him over Stamkos (as much as i love that man), Kopitar and Kuch

Matthews is not even close to Kucherovs playoff resume. That alone puts Kucherov over him and they are near equals in offensive prowess (different styles)
I mean you, not in an argumentized way, are clearly missing that key part of Kuchs resume that blows Auston away right now.

Stamkos (i edited my last comment after you quoted) so pasting it here

I value that part of Stamkos career alot. He still over a PPG in 1000 games and the dudes leg was snapped like a wishbone.

Malkin is debatable I agree but Malkin has been a special player, overshadowed by Sid, and always been unreal when he's needed in Sids absence.

IMO Malkin could be in top ten all time convos if he didn't play behind Sid but he wouldn't have had as much playoff success

You raise a great point with Kuch, I did dismiss playoff success and that does change a lot of things. So i'll change my argument with this one, Kuch right now is better all time but if Matthews gets even 1-2 playoff runs where he's on the same level that he is in the regular season I'm taking AM34. He's just a much stronger all around player outside of playmaking when they're both at their peak, but he has to prove he can be as good as Kuch is in the post season.

That's a completely valid argument for Stammer, the only thing I'm gonna go back to again is that the gap between Stamkos and AM34's defence is larger than any gap the two would have on the offensive side of the puck. AM34 is a much stronger C in my mind while Stammer is more of a W/C

Oh Matthews has the raw tools and potential future to be were you placed him but yeah it’s too early. And the reason why you’re both right about Stamkos vs Matthews yet I’ll also argue against is Stamkos has so many intangibles it’s hard to quantify. He’s had that aura for a while that you can’t put on paper or stats and I mean you see a guy who’s leg snaps in two and he also helps you become a dynasty and isn’t just along for the ride but leading the charge both production wise but also as your voice/ heart. That’s a special player.

Not at all criticizing Matthews with that paragraph/ saying he isn’t “that guy/ can’t be that voice/ heart” - but he’s got to earn it the way Stammer has and we just haven’t seen that yet. Though I will agree I may putting too much stock in that + the breaking leg thing but I just personally see what Stammer did as bananas with his career.

Matthews has that amazing two way and unreal offensive ability but Stamkos in my eyes closes that gap with what I outlined. And we’ve seen Stammer isn’t a mile behind AM34 in terms of offensive ability.
