I believe Vecchione signed a 2 year, 1way contract for 950k per so he will be on the team over Laughton as of right now

One way means he makes the same salary in AHL or NHL not that he has to be in the NHL. Laughton isn't waiver exempt and got a protection slot. He'll be on the team. Vecchione can go to ahl to start

Oh sorry. I was under he impression that means he has to clear waivers with that type of contract with no options. Maybe I was mistaken

Understandable. That's a common misconception. Whether a player is on a one-way or two-way contract has no bearing on their waiver eligibility. It has to do with the amount of games played in the NHL and the number of years they have had a contract for.
