What does Garland and a 1st get you

Created by: SGB88
Team: 2023-24 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 25, 2023
Published: Nov. 25, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
VAN
  1. Carrier, Alexandre
  2. Fabbro, Dante
Additional Details:
I've asked of the prices of these players before, and it was suggested each would probably be a 2nd. The Canucks 1st should be worth more than 2x2nds. It's a just question of how much they're willing to take on Garland's salary. I know Nashville has lots of good young wingers coming, but they are always further away than you think and its good not rush them.

Would the Canucks would be able to extend each of them for 4x4m?
NSH
  1. Friedman, Mark
  2. Garland, Conor
  3. 2024 1st round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
Top 10 protected. Friedman is just to make sure Nashville still has a NHL RD, but doesn't need to be in the deal

If we’re trading a 1st we should be targeting someone better than Fabbro/Carrier

Would also much rather move Beauvillier instead of Garland. Garland even when he isn’t putting up many points this year is a very strong play driver and good defensively. He’s been playing very well on the 3rd line recently

Beauvillier comes off the books next year anyway. With the contracts that they will have to sign in the next couple of years, it would be advantageous to move Garland's cap hit, or the majority of it. Could always try to replace what he's bringing now to the 3rd line via FA next year, although I think the Canucks have guys in the system that can benefit from the availability of a spot on the wing. Perhaps they move Hoglander up to the 3rd. In the future, Mikheyev could be brought down to the 3rd when their forward prospects arrive.

I do think they are better off trading the 1st+Garland to CGY for Tanev + Zadorov and whatever futures they can get back than doing this trade. I think the Canucks would have the option to sign both guys, Tanev probably at 3M and Zadorov at 4.5M.

They should keep Garland. Trade Beauvillier instead

Way too much to give up for the players coming back.

Not worth using the 1st to move Garland when he's been driving the 3rd line
