Hard Team

Created by: fangm
Team: 2023-24 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 29, 2023
Published: Nov. 29, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Lafrenière, Alexis
  2. Miller, K'Andre
  3. Trouba, Jacob
Additional Details:
Rangers are the second lowest scoring team of all the current playoff teams. Adding a Selke finalist who can put up 100 points will help them.

Brodie can still be a 2nd pairing guy. A top 4 of Lindgren, Fox, Brodie, Schneider is still really solid and then Gustafson can play with Benoit or Jones. I assume at the deadline they Rangers would add a 3RD if they make this move.
NYR
  1. Benoit, Simon
  2. Brodie, TJ
  3. Marner, Mitchell ($2,903,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Trouba is a buyout candidate this summer. Toronto is taking him for his grit and toughness more than anything else. Laf can replace Marner in the top 6 and Miller is really the reason to make this move and get a young, big DFD on the blue line.
2.
TOR
  1. Dewar, Connor
  2. Maroon, Patrick
  3. 2024 6th round pick (MIN)
  4. 2025 3rd round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
Minnesota gets a young cost controlled player in Robertson who they could get some scoring from if he's given more opportunities
MIN
  1. Gregor, Noah
  2. Robertson, Nicholas
Additional Details:
Leafs get mid/late round picks to flip and some role players for the bottom 6
3.
TOR
  1. Tanev, Brandon
Additional Details:
Seattle gets out of the second year of Tanev's deal while getting someone with more offensive touch for this year.
SEA
  1. Domi, Max
Additional Details:
Toronto gets a different type of player.
4.
TOR
  1. Faksa, Radek ($1,200,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Saves Dallas $1.25M against the cap while downgrading their 4C and getting a pick.

Not to mention getting more long-term upside from Holmberg.
DAL
  1. Holmberg, Pontus
  2. 2024 5th round pick (TOR)

Lol stop making these NYR trades already. Trouba isn’t a buy-out candidate and the rangers offense is fine after hanging 7 goals on the #1 defense

Marner is great, but I genuinely think this makes us worse. Especially defensively. Plus swapping Lad for Marner is a big upgrade but we’d still need 1-2 more RW’s. Not the move we need to make up.

No to trading Laf for anyone not named Connor Bedard. He should be considered untouchable at this point. However, if you want to put Kakko in his place, we might be able to work something out

I don't think the Rangers trade Trouba, but if they do, it can only be to Tampa Bay LOL

That NYR trade is a big no no for me personally. We get another Panarin type of player in Marner and get worse every where else. News flash, we have Panarin not really looking for that type of player.

there is zero balance in this trade - Marner may be the best player involved, but not at the expense of NY's 2nd pair and a kid that has finally hit his stride.
i'm not sure Trouba is even close to a buyout option - you can't act like TML is doing the Rangers a favor here.

Brodie and the other guy are meaningless.

do better.

they may be the 2nd lowest scoring, but they have also given up the least amount of goals.

The only way Marner isn't a leaf is at the end of his contract he walks or they don't re-sign him. He isn't waiving to go anywhere and if he would the teams he would go to won't give up the asking price.
