Hawks decline instantly. No chance they give up ANYTHING to acquire Leddy. A veteran left shot D is probably the last thing they'd spend a pick on.

Yea I just feel they should get a guy that can help shelter the young guys for a year or 2

Tho I’m pretty sure the blues would give him for free

If the Hawks add a veteran D for the role you describe, it will be a right shot D to play on the 3rd pair behind Jones and Murphy. A guy like Bortuzzo would be a much more likely target.

This is all true, just know the Blues would never trade Bortz to Chicago.

I think they should get a guy that plays the heavy minutes and hard matchups so the young guys can easy into it

Zaitsev isn't very good. He's not "fine there". Which is why he has played sparingly so far. Tinordi is hurt and the Hawks added another rookie D from the AHL instead of playing Zaitsev every night. That should tell you all you need to know about Zaitsev's play thus far.

If the Hawks add Leddy, that means one of Vlasic, Korchinski or Kaiser gets bumped out of the lineup. How does bumping a young D who may very well be part of the future off NHL ice help them develop? These guys all need ice time - not time watching games from upstairs.
