We seem to disagree on Liljegren. The guy has had very very good defensive metrics. Even regarding production, he has averaged 25 pts per 82 games since 2021-22 and it's almost entirely at ES. He's young, cost controlled and his game will continue to evolve, plus he is a RHD

Pretty good piece to get in return for an older Tanev who is UFA in a few months. Zadorov returned 3rd + 5th, so getting Liljegren + 3rd + Robertson seems quite good for me. I'd bet that the Flames won't get as much even though I'd hope they would send them Matthews (Sens fan : Leafs are a direct rival and I like the Flames)

And if you're starting to have too much depth on the wings, maybe it'd be smart to make a package for a roster upgrade.

Yes, we disagree in that you think he’s underrated and believe he will continue to evolve, whereas I feel he’s overrated because he’s not the player he was projected to be and he’s a 3rd Pairing, who might Max Out as a 2nd Pairing D-Man, so he’s not going to improve much further imo. He’s worth a 2nd to me…

I’d take him in a package for Tanev though, I said that already. It’s Robertson we have no need for, but given Leafs Fans consider him to be a valuable Trade Piece, I said swap him out with Unproven Minten. I also prefer Jarnkrok over a 3rd. I like Prospects & Players more than Picks, especially when you’re looking to re-tool and want guys who’ll make an impact sooner than later

Most ppl agree Tanev retained should fetch a 1st + 3rd, regardless whether the Trade is done now OR at the Deadline. I argued Treliving will have to pay extra and/or a Sweetener would be required to out bid other Teams, so I’ve been suggesting Villeneuve instead of a 5th as well

Considering I believe Liljegren and Minten to be a 2nd + 2nd, that’s close enough to a 1st for me, then add a 3rd/Jarnkrok for retention. Whether we get the sweetener who knows

Conroy is a crappy GM when it comes to maximizing Trade Returns, so who cares now and/or what am I supposed to do!??…

All the Trolls are coming out saying they knew Zadorov’s value was only a 3rd + 5th, but the vast majority agree with my valuation and that Conroy got absolutely fleeced yet again and Traded Zadorov away well under market value and that Zadorov should have returned at least a 2nd unretained (I said 2nd + 3rd + Contract/Benoit). In the end, Conroy is 0/2 in Trades so far, so I can argue Trade Values all day long, but if my GM is just gonna give them all away like he’s Santa Claus, what’s the point in caring or guessing anymore lol!?
