Way too much for Vancouver to pay here. No chance there’s a possibility of 2 1st round picks plus 2 quality prospects plus a roster player.. I understand asking for more to start negotiations but realistically take out the 2nd and the conditions and 1 of the prospects.

This is just way too rich for anyone to consider.

I would argue that Buchnevich is worth way more than 1 Prospect (excluding Willander and Lekkermari), Garland and a 1st. Especially if there is retention.

I’m not saying he’s not, but there’s definitely a middle ground between that kinda offer and the one posted. The one posted is similar to Eichel value if not more and Buchnevich is not on the same level at all.

This offer is roughly emulating the Timo Meir trade.

Mukhamdulim = brustewicz
Johansson = Garland
Zetturlund = Podkolzin
1st + conditional 2nd.

There were some other minor pieces to that trade but essentially the base of it. I know Meir was a bit younger and pending RFA but with Buch you get a year and a half at a lower cap hit.

Closer than most, but I'm afraid it's a no thanks from me.

I mean the 2 1sts only happen if Van is in the Stanley Cup Finals. I'd say the trade paid off if that is the case and wouldn't worry about the late 1st being tacked on. Garland is in here as a cap casualty. He is a solid player but in order for Van to improve the top 6 he is unfortunately the guy that needs to be involved so I don't put any value on him being included in this deal. So that leaves you at a good defense prospect + a reclamation project in Podkolzin + a 1st + a 2nd. It isn't a cheap price but Buch is a damn good player that would make a difference for two playoff runs. Have to give to get. If you drop the 2nd round pick and one of Brustewicz or Podkolzin there is no chance Blues consider.
