Think the blues would prefer a good defensive prospect. We have enough forward prospects

That's a trade the Blues likely accept. Nice trade

If Lekkermaki was an LD, you'd have something. The value here is fine, but the main pieces are wrong.

The thing about defensive prospects though is you just don't have any idea what they are and then when you do theyre basically unattainable.

Sorry, a young LD with legit top 4 capabilities. An A prospect. Pettersson does not qualify

I don't think teams trade those types of assets respectfully. They aren't appreciated because they take longer to develop and then it's too late.

Teams trade prospects all the time. Probably about as often as they trade legit 1st line wingers who aren't UFAs. grin The Devils traded Shak to San Jose for Meier at the TDL. Faber was dealt in the Fiala deal. Lindgren was in the Nash deal.

Ok ya if that is the level then yes. Bruczevich type of guys.

Thought you were meaning like a top 15 pick (like Lekkeremaki) type dman.

No. Bru is a) an RD & b) more of an offensive Dman. The Blues would want more of a two-way type and one who's probably a bit bigger.

That said, I do like Bru quite a bit and still cannot believe he fell to 75th. That's just ridiculous.

Realistically though, any dman you are trading for likely isn't contributing until maybe the last yr of Faulk's deal. So in that way a RD would be fine. Also you seem to need an offensive dman or am I missing something? Also most of your d prospects seem to be LD, not that I know much about any of them.

- Except they are not prioritizing 18 yo prospects. They would prefer a 21-ish yo who is ready/nearly ready to contribute. They aren't worried about five years from now, they're trying to work in a 1-2 year timeframe. Dealing Buch for a guy who won't contribute for five years goes directly against their goal (no pun intended).

- The Blues have offensive Dmen falling out of their ears, both in the NHL and in the pipeline. Parayko should still play some PP, but he never gets the chance anymore.

- Other than Lindstein, who probably projects to be a complimentary 2nd pairing guy, all their LD prospects are 3rd pairing level. A couple of them theoretically could jump into the top 4 realm, but I doubt anyone is going to bet on it.

Fair enough about the age. And my point about trading dmen of that age still stands. Theyre hard to get. Name a few you'd like for instance.

I think your analysis of having offensive dmen falling out their ears is wild. Parayko career high 35 points! The blues are one of the only teams in the league without a bonafide pp qb. Krug basically scores at like half a point a game. Or do you just mean they're terrible defensively too?
