Heh. Many of these "defensive forwards" in the list only play limited minutes and mostly against 3rd and 4th lines. A rather low bar to hurdle, defensively speaking.

according to the analytics their defensive is definetly good but not anything especially outstanding

They literally are all top 5 in xGA/60, FA/60, and SA/60 for a forward with a minimum 200 minutes played while playing the opponent's best line every single night

Staal is the 97th percentile of all skaters defensively and 2nd best of forwards individually
Martinook is 95th percentile of all skaters defensively and 9th best of forwards individually
Fast is 98th percentile of all skaters defensively and 1st best of forwards individually
