selling hard not serious

Created by: Tommybarzy
Team: 2023-24 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 6, 2023
Published: Dec. 6, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
if lane isn't gonna be fired during the season might as well sell what we have

this isn't meant to be taken too seriously, just an Islanders fan imagining an actual future for this team
Trades
1.
NYI
  1. Ritchie, Calum [Reserve List]
  2. 2024 1st round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
really like Ritchie as a prospect, and 3 mil Nelson for 1.75 years should be worth around this
COL
  1. Nelson, Brock ($3,000,000 retained)
Additional Details:
seen this trade on CF before
2.
NYI
  1. Kuznetsov, Evgeny
Additional Details:
Unhappy Kuz and his 7.8 mil swapped for fellow struggling Lee and his 7 mil

100% expect caps fans to reject this trade, Caps are my 2nd favorite team and I wouldn't make this trade if I were them but who knows what NHL GM's are thinking
WSH
  1. Lee, Anders
  2. Wahlstrom, Oliver
Additional Details:
Caps get one extra year of term but 800k more each year, also Wahlstrom as a reclamation project/sweetner
3.
NYI
  1. Ehlers, Nikolaj
Additional Details:
Pulock is probably worse but has term, Ehlers is a UFA after next season
WPG
  1. Pulock, Ryan
Additional Details:
pieces going back either way to even value
4.
NYI
  1. Brodie, TJ
  2. Liljegren, Timothy
  3. Robertson, Nicholas
  4. 2024 1st round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
also 100% this to be rejected

but... Pelech is an elite shutdown defenseman with 5 years left after this. A first, Liljegren (who with a change of scenery could maybe develop into top 4 caliber), and Robertson (I just really like him). Brodie is just to make the cap work and I know he had a kind of rough playoffs so maybe the leafs are willing to get rid of him if it means upgrading to pelech and maybe getting Tanev
TOR
  1. Iskhakov, Ruslan
  2. Pelech, Adam
Additional Details:
Isk is a former 2nd round pick, elite skill and has put up very good numbers in the AHL, can play either wing or center. Sounds like someone the leafs would like back, especially with a similar player like Robertson (who is better) coming the other way
5.
NYI
    This team next year:

    Barzy-Bo-Ehlers
    Engvall-Kuzy-Palms
    Robertson-JGP-Holmstrom
    Fasching-Cizikas-Gauthier
    Depth guy

    Hanifin-Dobber
    Romy-Lily
    Reilly-Mayfield
    Bolduc

    Sorokin
    Varlamov
    TOR
      Robertson/Holmstrom: 1.25M bridge deals
      Liljegren: 2.5M
      Reilly: 1M
      Hanifin: (7x7) in FA

Leaves team under cap, following year use Kuzy's money to resign Ehlers, Dobber, Romanov, promoting Ritchie on ELC to be mid 6 center

You may have seen that trade on here before with the Avs but you should also have seen it rejected by most (if not all) Avs fans.

id love to have pulock and ive seen lots of trades with ehlers going the other way but i think winnipeg keeps him. not sure what a fair package of picks/prospects would look like for pulock and would depend on the isle’s direction too.

havent watched much of their games, is there something lambert is doing specifically thats drawn the ire of fans?

Team blows leads left and right with him. Undisciplined, can’t stay out of the box. Changes lines when the team is playing well, refuses to change them when the team struggles, doesn’t call a single timeout when the team is in the middle of blowing leads (see SJS game), when other teams call timeouts and actually talk to their players, Lambert paces and says nothing. Puts super slow players (Anders Lee) on the ice when other team has extra attackers and big surprise we can’t keep up and get trapped for 2 straight minutes in the zone, runs top d-men into the ground so they’re dead tired by the late 3rd (Mike Reilly was dominant in the sharks game and still couldn’t crack 13 minutes, meanwhile Sam Bolduc who should be in the AHL at best is up at 18 minutes). Lambert got asked after like the 4th blown lead this year and said it’s not a trend. Now it’s like the 10th+ time it’s happened

Leafs decline no need to pay that outrageous price

Congrats this is one of the few Kuzy trades I've here that really makes sense for both teams. I honestly don't know what they would do between this option and buying Kuzy out at the end of the year. I would probably take it, but could really go either way.

I would love Brock Nelson, but I'm not sure that is a deal the avs would do. They need to bet on Ritchie for future cap reasons. One extra year of Nelson is great, though.
