At this point, AZ would give Dumba away to any taker.

I've read that Dumba has struggled to fit with the Coyotes, and some fans perhaps here, spectorshockey.net, twitter, whatever, have suggested they'd be fine getting rid of him. He might not be the target you want, unless you think he can pull it together.

He's been pathetic. Comparable to OEL's last 3 years in the desert.

I wouldn't want him tbh unless he's was dirt cheap, retained, and we absolutely want to preserve nemec's slide year

Nemec appears to be too good for that right now.. maybe Fitz can get him signed to an 8 year 7-ish per kind of deal that will look like a total steal in 2-3 years (after signing) ... he has 3 years on his current, I know this lol). Or will he be worth that already? Dahlin numbers?

That's very reminiscent of Andrei "you Zyuz you lose" Zyuzin's stint with Calgary, however long it lasted (was too long).

It's tough. If nemec slides another year palat+marino+nico contracts come off the books freeing up 18 mill for him+Nico

However if we wait an extra year the price may go way up.

Assuming Mercer at 6x8, Schmid+Mcleod at 3x5 each, Nemec+Luke at 8x8 each, Holtz at 4x5, Bahl at 2x3 and a cap of 95 mill in 26-27.

That leaves us with
Hughes-Mercer-Meier
Hischier-Bratt-Palat
Mcleod-Holtz-_______
______-_______-_______
Siegs-Hamilton
Hughes-Nemec
Bahl-Marino
Schmid
_______

Leaves us 6.3 mill to fill the remaining 6 slots: (22 man roster)
Cheap options:
Gritysuk on ELC: 900k
2 ELC/Minimum guys as scratches: 1.6 total
Daws as backup: 1 mill
Stillman as 4th line depth: 900k
Foote as 4th line depth: 900k
1 mill 4C, or more likely a 2 mill guy we buy with retention.

Then after that it opens up.
If nico takes a hometown discount (9 mill) and cap goes to 98, and Quinn comes home at 10 mill (optional)

It's
Hughes-Mercer-Holtz
Nico-Meier-Bratt
McLeod-____-____
_______-______-____
Hughes-Nemec
Hughes-Casey
Siegs-Hamilton
Schmid
_______
Bahl
____

And 8 mill to fill those slots again.
Hope to get cheap depth as much as possible, or move Dougie out and resign Marino for an extra 3 mill or so.

I'd look to try and get McLeod signed for less than $5m per year, for sure. I'm not all that knowledgeable on the Devils' players and prospects beyond the obvious, but a third line player at $5m per year, no matter how you suss it out, is a lot. And I also wonder about Hughes moving to the wing, is that a better option in your opinion?

P.s. it will take far, far, far more than the Devils would be willing to give up, in order to get Quinn on the team. The Canucks will cling to that guy like super glue.

McLeod would be 3 mill x 5 years.
