Allen has proven that he can be a very good #1 goalie, handle the load, and be a pretty good mentor for PK... i'd personally want to give up less but I like this trade.

Allen is none of those things except being a good mentor

He's played 60+ games in a season before with above-average numbers... that's being able to handle a starter's load. And a career .908 isn't spectacular but it would work just fine for the Hurricanes considering they only give up 25 shots a game.

I mean the Hurricanes need to do something in the net and I don't see many appetizing options and Jake Allen is one the least worst. The other options are like Petr Mrázek, Alex Nedeljkovic, and James Reimer and they all are not still Hurricanes for a reason
