Vancouver gets the other Calgary defenseman they want. Calgary takes a chance on a struggling right shot winger who can score but is in Tocchet's doghouse in Vancouver because he can't or won't forecheck.

Hanifin could replace Tanev but in that case Vancouver would be the team that needs to add.

I feel like 1 for 1 is pretty fair, or at least close to fair. I can see why both teams would ask for more though. Maybe a small pick swap or prospect swap could be included. Canucks may also need to find someone to take Myers before adding another dman

As for what you said about Hanifin in your comment, can’t see the Canucks being interested in him even though he’s a better player as he’d be our 5th NHL LHD and Tocchet doesn’t like playing two guys of the same handedness on defensive pairings

My man, if it comes down to this, sure I'd do it. But Kuzmenko is 27 (by Dec 31 anyway) , and I want younger players or prospects or picks for the Flames' vets. Young Guns Era 2.0, with Wolf, Zary, Pelletier, Coronato, Poirier, etc leading the way in place of Rico Fata, Denis Gauthier, Derek Morris etc. I wanna supplement that.

While I think this proposal is pretty fair. I think Calgary declines, unless they are of the mind they aren't full sell retooling.

The Canucks perspective, they don't really "need" to replace the top 6 winger in a move with him. Purely off the fact that Hoggy/Miller/Boeser and Miky/EP40/Lafy have been really productive as a top 6. If Vancouver really wants to add a legit top 6 winger to full the void, I think they add to get retention. Thus leaving them the cap space to acquire said t6 winger comfortably.

Something like Tanev @ 33(solo calgary) to 65% retained (33 from Calgary 50% from a 3rd team)
for Kuzy and one of Jurmo, McWard, Woo, McDonough, Klimovich, and a draft pick to compensate lesser/greater values between said pick froms whilst paying for the broker team.

Giving the Canucks anywhere from 6m - 7.6m cap space if they true want to acquire a forechecking t6 forward to play with EP40
