Very true. I really like Tavares. But Matthews, Kadri and Bozak down the middle would have been very sufficient and use that extra money on a dman.

Ya they would have had a much more well rounded team allocating that 11mil to 2 or 3 guys. They already had enough offense with Matthews, Nylander, and Marner.

And Kadri. His production can't be excluded also.

I thought 6 x 6 was the highest contract that would be reasonable for him. Would have still be a lot but it would have been reasonable. 7 x 7 is unreasonable in every way possible.

I really like Kadri though but I think these type of contracts hinder everyone, including the player.

You all would have signed Tavares at the time, don't pretend.

I liked Lafferty and what he brought but his time with the Leafs was short. He had a good playoff. I wouldn't put him in over anyone here. I am happy he is doing well in Vancouver!

I would have much rather kept him than get Reaves. But it is what it is.
