If you make it a first I could see it happen as long as the sharks are not on Laine's list

This is actually a conditional 1st from the devils. Sharks wouldn’t be wise to trade their own 1st for a player with the question marks Laine has. Maybe the sharks own 2nd, which may be very close to a late 1st.

Value-wise maybe.. but Laine has done nothing in recent memory to justify what he makes and the cap hit on whatever team he's on. If I were the sharks I'd save the assets and spend the cap on players who are committed to putting in 100% effort all the time.

San Jose should continue sucking for a few more years. I suggest they keep the pick and the prospect. They start becoming relevant again as Laine contract ends.

Value is fair (or not enough for Columbus) but San Jose is the wrong fit in my mind.

Sharks have heart, solid coaching, and good leadership right now, it’s not a bad idea to buy Low on Laine. Financially and cap wise at 25 with 2 1/2 years left in his deal he’s either a huge piece of our future or a FA long before we need to use his cap hit on younger guys raises! And I have to say this, Bordeleau just doesn’t fit this teams future anymore! eapecially if sharks take a C or another LW in the next draft.

I did a similar ACGM with that pick and Bordz for Kuzmenko from Valcoucer but this isn’t a bad /bad option!

The risk you run by designing a team to tank is building a loser culture and those are hard to break from just ask CBJ and Buffalo! Both those teams have immensely more talent than the sharks but are only a few points more than the sharks right now! I want Celebrini bad, but I want to reward this club for fighting and clawing back to a respectable record the last 18 games and adding Couture (Back in a month) with Laine would give the sharks a huge boost skill wise and hopefully our leadership could work with Laine!

Sharks still likely draft top 15 with the PIT pick and high teens with their own if they do this and you still get good players in this area of the draft!

I want Hanifin, and Kuzmenko and a 1st round playoff berth where this team might surprise people!

hahahahah, while a big part of me would love to see that, I would just love for us to take that step next year, with that being said, I don't want us to sell all of duclair or barabanov or even granny.
If we really want to be competitive next year we have the cap space for a good dman whether that comes in a trade or via FA

Ok ok no Hanifin but yes to Kuzmenko and we sign Matt Roy (LAK) or pesche in the offseason!
Bring back Duke and Barbi and keep granny around. I’m on board with that!

I’m ok with just Roy honestly, he’s a solid 2 way defensive minded D. Zero PP time in his time with LAK but still puts up good numbers! Think as a 1RD he could be a 30-40 point player with plus D! Pair him with Thrun and keep Ferraro and Embersom together! That has been by far the sharks best pairing and 3rd pair is the best 2 of the rest!

Yeah, to say the least, the sharks have a VERY interesting off season coming up with like 35m in cap space

Let's not get carried away, guys. I love the way the Sharks have been playing ately, but we're still a rebuilding team. We're still not going to make the playoffs. We don't need Laine at this time. We need our picks and prospects, and we need to get more. We're still sellers, not buyers. Agreed that Bordeleau isn't a great fit, but we need to trade him for a good pick or a better prospect, not an established player. We should still tank for Celebrini. We should still trade Ducair, Barbi, Hoffman, Labanc, Rutta, Granny, Kahkonen, Burroughs, Benning, Xadina, Kunin, and maybe even Couture, Hertl, and Ferraro. Gotta tear it down in order to build it up. The worst thing for the Sharks would be to spend years in the middle: too bad to make the playoffs but too good to get the top draft picks necessary for longterm success.

I was being sarcastic but the rebuild may not be as far off as u think, we should keep couture hertl duclair the young guys need some leadership

We can’t roll with 20 entry level contracts

It’s also a business, we can’t be this bad for so many years to come, so let us be a little optimistic smile
