What would it realistically take to get Anderson at say maybe 1.5 ish retained? Might be a buy low scenario? I like the guy but man I think a change of scenery is almost needed at this point.

Anderson at his best is worth a first, decent point production, good physicality, etc.

Anderson right now is worth a first to get rid of.

Meet in the middle, include the retention, and say maybe a B level prospect and a 3rd-5th rounder

Id honestly do that, William Villeneuve is a decent top 6 d prospect from the Montreal area, maybe him and a couple 5ths? I think Anderson could honestly work with Matthews. Having Knies Matthews and Anderson on 1 line would be a pain in the ass for the opposing team lol

The great part about Anderson (When not in a terrible slump) is that he can play anywhere on the lineup and drive play, I'd hate to play that line tho, Knies and Andersons physicality plus Matthews' goalscoring, no thank you.
Montreal is over stacked with D prospects at every level so if there's a forward or goalie prospect you think would work as well that would probably be what Montreal would ask for in a real trade.

I agree with you for the change of scenery. His stats are disastrous but it's clearly not a lack of effort. At this point every time he misses an opportunity it becomes a negative feedback loop. A new team, a new environment would be so beneficial for him, professionally and personally. Don't get me wrong, I love the guy.

As for retention obviously I was joking but I highly doubt we would retain with 4 years left on his contract including this one. We only have one retention slot left for this year and we retained on Petry for this year and next.

My personal guess is a trade with Vancouver for Kuzmenko who wants out could be beneficial to both teams and to both players. Both players are at $5.5m but Kuzmenko's contract ends at the end of next year.

Alex Steeves? I think he’s lighting up the AHL right now, 20 points in 16 games.

That’s the most likely scenario, especially since they’d be dealing with an out of conference team and not a rival lol

If the Leafs want Anderson then theyll acquire him at full salary or pay another team to retain. Habs arent eating 4 years of retention when they dont need cap (especially with it raising 5+ million)

Now what the Habs get in return could be absolutely nothing and im doing the deal but if any retention is involved, it would be the full 50% and id want a 1st and 2nd round level assets in return (1st and Minten/Robertson/2nd round pick)

If its a team in the West, id pay like a Trudeau and 2nd to get rid of him honestly, but its a cold day in hell when the Habs help the Leafs and id expect it the other way around as well
