I'd rather have Stamkos leave as a UFA.

Also, I don't think Leafs do that trade for a defenceman who is at the end of his prime

Retool that doesn't improve the team? Top 6 is better w/ Nylander and Vatrano. Bottom 6 is worse swapping Jeannot for Wahlstrom. And blue line is worse swapping Hedman for McCabe.
