AZ does the EDM deal - stecher is TDL and @50% w 3rd good deal, doubt EDM does unless they just given up on broberg
Dont see AZ wants labanc and why does SJS want/need expiring LTIR (they arent at floor)
COLB deal dont see AZ wanting bottom pair for 3x 2.75m when have a lot of young D coming up
if lindholm & hanifin signed to 5/6 years AZ jumps on that, if they rentals no way. not sure CAL thinks near enough for them, but CAL isnt in position of strength w both

I don't hate that deal from a CGY perspective. I think ideally each of Hanifin and Lindholm with retention would be worth around a 1st + 2 x 2nds.

This deal has no retention, and based on the P.Kane deal that's like 2 x 3rd round picks, or a 2nd of value.

I think Hayton is going to be a pretty good player and I think he's worth a 1st + 2nd.

The Arizona 1st is going to be somewhere in the 16-20 range IMO which I find more valuable than a pick in the 25-32 range. I probably value it as a late 1st + 1-2 x 3rds.

Here it comes down to Soderstorm, and I have no idea what he's going to be at the NHL level, I think he's only going to be a 3rd pairing D, but it's too early to tell.

Morden is a throw in.

So yeah, I would love it if we could get a different prospect than Soderstorm, but it seems like a solid deal.

Kane’s $5 million was retained in exchange for a 3rd round pick. However, it was only about $300k real money at the time. And he had full NMC. While Hanifin has limited NTC, Lindholm has no protection, and 50% on the two of them would be around $1m real money. So that is a hard one to build comps off of Kane here. There have been other comps that have shown $5-6m could equal a 1st for some teams (Monahan example being one for Flames fans). But Arizona wouldn’t need cap space, so no reason to pay extra to retain.

In a vacuum, I think Hanifin is worth about 1st+3rd and Lindholm maybe a little more.

One way to look at it….it’s Hayton+Soderstrom for Lindholm and Morden+1st for Hanifin (Morden is a bit better than a throw-in!)

Watch out the Oiler fans think Broberg is going to be some kind of all star. He should net them an NHL player and a top pick

Arizona retained $2.625M for a 3rd. CHI retained the initial $5.25M.

That’s right.

But hard comp to assess cap space value as he basically picked his destination and had little real $ remaining.
