Great defensive line, gets Okposo and Jost off the ice. Carolina fan also complained that they didn't want DeAngelo taking Pesces spot so added Jokiharju but wanted something coming back

Yes it does. Mittelstadt is one of the top 10 5v5 scorers in the league this season and this calendar year. Infinitely better than Jack Drury. Carolina is mid 5v5. Jokiharju has been good defensively, he's not Pesce but he's not DeAngelo.

I get your thoughts, but doesn't really do anything for Next year. If you are trying to fix this year, I guess but would take a miracle for us to sniff the playoffs. And then why would they resign, even just 1 of Pesce or Fast.

They need to sign them for sure. They wouldnt make the trade without a plan in place to retain Pesce

I like your thoughts, they would help if we hadn't dug such a hole. IMO and it hurts to say it already, but might be getting close to thinking about next year and what moves help for the present and future.

I like these moves. Obviously it's gotta be for longer than this year, this year is going nowhere fast. Can't imagine what the barn is gonna look like tonight, probably sold out with 15,000 Leafs fans. Well, at least the Sabres players won't have the fans boo them off the ice.

Addressing your comment about the Canes 5v5 offense first, this season is an outlier in a negative way. The Canes typically have very good 5v5 offense metrics. It doesn’t help that it’s been injury central and lines don’t get kept together to build chemistry.

Now as for the players, yes, Mitts would be an upgrade offensively over Drury, if you were comparing apples to apples. Buffalo has a very offensive minded system, whereas the Canes utilize a more defensively oriented system that has a tendency to suppress offense. It’s quite an apples to oranges scenario. And whilst Mitts is better offensively, he isn’t as good defensively as Drury. And as much as certain fans want to deny the truth, offense isn’t everything.

It makes no sense to destroy the chemistry of the Canes dcore, just to potentially get a few extra points out of a 3C.
