Marner is a set up guy. He's not burying anything. Bertuzzi played better with Nylander for this reason. He's not a shooter. He's not a finisher. Come the playoffs the Leafs will be wishing they signed a sniper or two. Treliving should have traded for a guy like Toffoli, or signed a pure shooter in free agency.

Berttuzzi will thrive in the playoffs... And he also sets up JT... Again... Bert will do well

He wouldn't sign in Toronto, so why would he waive to come here. I agree with you about the soft defense. Rielly isn't being moved and McCabe is the only guy with any kind of physical play. The rest of the group needs to be moved and definitely not re-signed next season. 2 yrs from now there is a lot of UFA d-men that are difference makers that hopefully hit the market. JT contract will be up and with the cap going up the leafs will be able to make a big splash.

Marner also needs a speedster on his line. He can't make any great plays entering the o-zone with JT and Bert plugging along. The 2nd line should be Knies-JT-Marner, this gives two real good skaters on both of the top 2 lines. Put Bert back on the topline. Robertson has disappeared and they need to give someone from the marlies a shot.
