Anaheim, a small-market franchise, won't retain in excess of $10 million no matter what the trade return for John Gibson is (within any rational and realistic limits).

Anaheim wants nothing to do with $3,200,000 for 4 years

John Gibson wants nothing to do with Toronto

No way Toronto is doing this trade.
They can't afford Gibson and his massive contract.

If no salary retention does Anaheim accept?

It’s $3.2 over 4 years for a starting goalie, less than what Samsonov’s being paid. Cap is also going up

Yes, And how many times does it need repeating, Gibson won't waive for Toronto or any Canadian team for that Matter.

Probably, but Gibson has a no-trade clause which almost certainly includes Toronto, and he's unlikely to waive it.

As much as we Anaheim guys hate to admit it, that's probably Gibson's worth on the open market. But I don't see anyone where Gibson is likely to want to go making an effective offer for him.

It doesn't matter dude, it's all irrelevant as John Gibson doesn't waive for Canada.

Pat Verbeek isn't eating $12,800,000 on John Gibson, Nor does he waive for Toronto.

Mediocrity is acceptable in Toronto but you trade the farm for a below average goalie 🤦🏻

He’s been on some terrible Anaheim teams hence his numbers. His numbers this year on a bad team are pretty good. Gonna be several weeks before they get Woll back and Jones and Samsonov are terrible

Gibson has been bad to terrible for many years now. Yes Anaheim were and still are rebuilding but just plain ridiculous and embarrassing to trade the farm for a 6 week goalie. Dude has a terrible contract to boot

Agreed. Gibson can be great, but so can Jones & the salary differential is huge. No way Toronto sells includes Hildeby & Minten.

Minten is a physical ELC contract the leafs need with a lot of potential. Hildeby is a 6'5" goalie in his first year in North America and has been playing real good for the Marlies. Leafs aren't moving him either.
