Unless a goalie is waiver exempt it doesn’t make much sense for Toronto to make a move for a goalie. Once Woll comes back in a month or so they’d be right back in the same situation as they’re in right now cause they’d lose 1 of those 3 goalies to waivers and be left with a fragile starter in Woll and no goalie depth.

This trade isn’t at all fair for Toronto but c’mon Allen has had a much better year than Samsonov, it’s not even close. Jack Campbell even has better stats than Sammy this year, Allen would clearly be an upgrade and a stabilizing presence in the Leafs’ crease, but he would not cost anywhere near this.

Well goalie A is Allen but you fail to mention that last season was his only season in his 10 season career that he had a save% under .900. Definition of a steady veteran.

And Samsonov isn’t there because he currently has a .864 save%.
