Okay, that is a hilarious trade... Slavin is a top-10 defenseman (best defensive defenseman in hockey, elite PKer, able to put up above-average point production for defensemen) signed to a steal of a contract so there is no way that he is getting moved

31 year old Slavin with one year left isn't worth what you think he is.. top 10 dman still?

He's 29 and yah he is... you don't exactly find defensemen like him growing on trees. He outproduces Erik Karlson, Roman Josi, Alex Pietrangelo and Adam Fox at 5v5 points/60. The only reason he has less points than them is because we don't put him on the Power Play because we don't want to wear him out

Two things I don't think works out here is:
I don't believe you get Necas for 5mil per, nor do I think you'll get Montour for 5.5 per.

No part of this trade makes sense, the Leafs are first of all not moving Marner and also the Hurricanes are not giving up a top 8-12 defenceman and a young second line centre for Marner. Also Necas probably gets 7-8 million for 8 years and no we are not signing brandon montour over domi or really any other defencman
