A few thoughts

- Send Merk back down to Providence with Poitras' return
- Don't break up the first two lines... Geekie has been producing with Zacha and Pasta ditto with Coyle, Debrusk, and Marchy
- Poitras and Beecher both have potential and need C reps to develop. Playing them on the wing is a disservice to them IMO.
- Lohrei had a bad game, but you can't sitting four guys in a 3rd period January game. Playing McAvoy/Lindholm 25+ minutes a night and Marchand/Pasta extra is going to wear guys down. Let them develop and grow their games.
- IMO Grz is the odd man out when Forbort returns from injury. Maybe package him in a TDL deal for a forward or try to get a 3rd round pick for him in this draft (might need to retain on him)

Lohrei is definitely outperforming Grz. Heck, even Wotherspoon is. Idk what's going on with Grz, he's been good in past seasons. Unless he's playing sheltered 3rd pairing minutes, he's hurting the team being out there.

Agree with not touching the top6, they've been relatively good.

The Pittsburgh game was a regression for Lohrei. He was pretty bad, but you still go with the upside. Personally, I assume that they keep Grz as the 7th D when Forbort comes back unless they need his salary in a swap.

I like Heinen to help drive that fourth line. The scoring hasn’t been there and Steen/Beecher really haven’t shown the ability to provide it. Lauko hasn’t either this year, but showed flashes last year of tools

I think this outline makes sense. I’d love to acquire a center and move Geekie down, but I acknowledge he’s played well enough to keep the experiment going.

Which center do you go for Lindholm, Hertl, or other? It would be hard to part with either Merk or Lysell based on how they've been playing. I would love to embrace the youth movement.

Also Geekie, Freddy, and JDB have been on fire to start the new year.

I kind of want to see them NOT go all in this year and try to maximize the returns in free agency. Not every prospective free agent signs with their team.

If I had my druthers, I think I’d give Frederic a run opposite Pasta with Zacha at center. He’s been consistent and he is showing last year wasn’t a fluke. I’d like to reward him and see if he can make the same type of jump that Coyle has done in his game,
