2024-25 Offseason

Created by: CBA
Team: 2024-25 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 10, 2024
Published: Jan. 10, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Could be any 7th dman, it just has to be a Right Handed dman (doesn't have to be Gustav Lindstrom). I like the lines combination and the defense is big (not extra talented but big boys on the blue line)

Laval Rocket :

Heineman-Beck-Mesar

Simoneau-Kidney-Armia
Tuch-Mysak-Legare
Davidson

Struble-Mailloux

MTL will add another great prospect as well in the 2024 draft with a top 10 pick !

Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Tippett, Owen [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
MTL need offense and goal scoring, I think Tippett could help solving that issue and give a sniper for Nick Suzuki. Tippett would be a good option on the PP as well
PHI
  1. Barron, Justin [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
With Konecny,Foerster & Brink on the right wing, could Tippett be available for the right price ? Justin Barron could round up Philly top 4 well (Sanheim,York,Drysdale & Barron). This is the base (main piece) for the trade
2.
MTL
  1. Dubé, Dillon [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
MTL trade one of the many LHD they have for a proven middle six forward who's coming from a down year. Dubé can play all three position and I want MTL to take their time with their prospects (Beck,Roy,Heineman,Farrell). He is a short term solution unless he comes back to his former self (and not every prospects I mention will become NHL regular)
CGY
  1. Harris, Jordan
Additional Details:
CGY are short on left handed defenseman while MTL have a ton of quality LHD. Jordan Harris is a proven young (23 yo) dman while Dube look like a middle six forward. CGY have to make room for Pelletier next year and I bet Coronato will be a regular
3.
MTL
    Future considerations
Report says MTL aren't dealing him for a late pick because MTL have the leverage. But here on CapFriendly, we all have a hard time believing Allen is positive value at that cap hit. So let's say he has neutral value, MTL thanks him for his services and send him somewhere where he will play
    SJS
    1. Allen, Jake
    Additional Details:
A well respected veteran who could be a leader in San Jose room
Blackwood would take the starter spot. It could be any team, so Sharks fans don't come at my neck please. Allen will get traded somewhere someday, I just don't know who

Tippett is worth more than Barron, and with drysdale/ristolinen/bonk/helge their RD looks solid with York/Sanheim/Zamula all able to switch RD.

I never proposed the trade to be 1 for 1. MTL would have to include a prospect or draft pick
Bonk is a couple years away, Grans has a hard time in the NHL
Ristolainen hasn't been good and he could be traded. Not to mention he is already playing on the 3rd pairing

I definitely think Tippett would be available for the right price, However I don't think Barron would be the D they target since I don't think he's that ready for top 4, they'd want a young roster player, and Risto isn't getting traded with that contract so he'll be around for the next few years you'd either need to add a 2nd (and probably a 4th/5th) for it to be Tippett for Barron

Barron is already playing top 4 in MTL, so he is ready for that
Yes, I would add COL 2024 2nd round pick or PIT 2025 2nd round pick + either SJ 2024 5th round pick or DET 2025 4th round pick for Owen Tippett

That's actually a great deal for the Flames and seems to make sense for the Habs too. Sign me up

Harris to Calgary makes a lot of sense with Hanifin leaving. I would target Pospisil instead of Dubé because of age, size and nationality. Dubé might have some untapped potential, but at 25 y.o. the clock is ticking. He's also too similar to Newhook IMO.
