1 Ottawa - No
2 Montreal - No
3 Toronto - No as he grew up hating them as a fan.
4 Winnipeg - No
5 Calgary - No
6 Edmonton - No
7 Vancouver - Possibly but i seriously doubt it.

Lmao I'm glad you just decided he would say no, "Yeah guys so he's gonna say no to four cup contending teams in Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver and Winnipeg cause I said so!" What evidence even is there for this? Did he message you personally? Did he say it on some podcast?

Now I'm not saying the Oilers should trade for Ekblad, they shouldn't, and he won't be availabe anyways. But It's okay to admit you weren't aware of Edmonton's cap situation!

I also feel like i need to point out that i clarified in a later comment saying:

yeah i mean, i guess any team could open up the space buy trading away cap dumps. canucks can do it without making any cap clearing moves so it can be done prior to the buyout window or Free Agency

your ACGM still requires buying out campbell (have to wait until buyout period to do that) and dumping kulak. canucks could do the trade as soon as both van and florida are eliminated from playoff contention and its not contingent on any other moves.

edmonton has been to the wcf 2 years ago and the semifinals last year. they have 2 hart trophy winners and rocket richard winners. they have real stanley cup chances.

toronto has finished top 4 in the league the last 2 seasons and 6th in the league the season before. they have a hart trophy adn rocket richard winner. they have real stanley cup chances

i think the coaching staff disagrees with you. he plays less minutes than both forsling and montour, plays weaker competition than both forsling and montour, has worse underlying numbers than both forsling and montour, and will cost more than forsling (and maybe montour) next season.

forsling/montour is their top pair. they have traded away pending UFAs in the past to make room for other players (huberdeau and weegar) so this would be inline with that same strategy.

this way they recoup a 1st and a 4th for their 3rd most used defenseman, instead of having one of their top paring defenseman walk for free.

Ekblad and Montour missed the first 16 games of the season. In that time Forsling was logging between 21 and 27 minutes a night for Florida. Since their returns he has clearly had the 3rd most ice time on average.

Also Forsling and Montour playing together makes a huge difference too. It means that Ekblad is always paired with their top 4's biggest liability and the guy who plays the least ice time of the 4. By default Ekblad gets less shifts for that reason alone.

I'm not saying they won't trade Ekblad but they certainly aren't going to do it for an underwhelming return that makes them a worse team in the process

While montour and ekblad were the player with the most elevation was OEL. Mintour and forsaking both average more TOI than Ekblad since Ekblad returned from injury

Yeah cause the team that gave the cup winners their closest series last year and has had the best record since November isn't a cup contender, get your head out your a**. Toronto also most definitely is, they're a top 5 team in the east with the best offensive talent in the league whether you like or not, if they can be smart with defensive adds this TDL they are a top 10 cup threat along with Edmonton. I'd agree Florida is a stronger team than the 4 I mentioned but this isn't even about that, the concept is they are trading him in hopes to re-sign other important depth pieces.

Also you didn't even answer my question, you completely ignored it just to make a terrible take that also has zero evidence or sense behind it which seems to be a common theme for you.

Plus it's actually Forsling and Ekblad who are playing in the top pair. Montour is the guy on 2nd pair. Since his return, Ekblad is logging the most 5v5 TOI out of the three.

He isn't moving, and even if he was, it would be for a lot more than a late 1st grin
