Gallagher is going nowhere. Armia is untradable. We would need to add a high pick and Dvorak can stay if the return is a low pick. We already have a ton of them.

most of the devils fans would still pass because he isn't 50% retained. we really need to get " rid " of him and stop the 3 goalie rotation. Allen deserves better and Primeau is honestly ahead of him rn.

Yeah, I'm not one of those Devils fans lol. Honestly, the Devils don't need Montreal to retain any money, NJ can just put Dougie on LTIR and gain some cap space to afford Allen this year. And he's only signed for next year, so that wouldn't be an issue either as long as NJ can dump Vitek in the offseason.

The Devils just desperately needs any goalie who is decent to pair with Daws.

I thought schmid was ahead of daws? and you still have kallgren/kinkaid down no? but they won't really do the work in the nhl.

Remove Olausson, the 1st and Monahan and you might be closer to a deal the Avs should consider.

Yes because I’ve looked at our cap situation for next year. 4 mill on Allen is ugly.

If Allen is the only goalie on the market, sure.

But I’d rather pay these assets for a younger, better, cheaper goalie.

Why not pay a 3rd for Mrazek and resign him at 2.5 mill? Or sign any of the options.

With 2 mill in overages, 4 mill Allen next year, it limits the term we can get on Mercer and McLeod

Scenario 1: buy a guy like Stolarz, Lyon, Nedjelkovic, Lankinen retained etc. Stay under LTIR space, limit overages.
Scenario too: buy Allen. Get hit with Allen at 4 mill and 2 mill of overages.

Is Allen better? Is he 6 million dollars next year better?

Is he better than Mrazek who could be resigned cheaper than Allen?

Is he better than signing DeSmith, Kahkonen, or any available FA goalie (all of which will be cheaper than 3.85 million)?

What about a retention between 25% - 50% for a 3rd round pick as a minimum price ?

Now I’m on board.

Again, in the lower tier of goalies I’m simply looking for value, and minimizing cap impact beyond this year.

Obviously I have personal preferences but it’s a crapshoot at that tier. Any goalie could perform down the stretch, any goalie could falter. I’d like to maximize value, limit risk, and get someone younger if possible

I'm in the part of Habs fans who belive that if we trade Allen on a good price, the only way that can happen is if we retain somes money.

Maybe you have preference choices, but idk what the goalie market will gonna be. Kent Hughes said in a interview last week (about the Habs rotation of 3 goalies) that the teams haves somes teams have somes issues about their goalies, but ZERO trades who include a goalie has been made since the begining of the season, and he didn't want to rush for trading Allen.

we don't retain on allen. it's simple. already have petry on the books for next year. if the pick is a 2nd, we will do it.
