Without Forsberg, the Preds probably have gotten a few top picks over the years. I wonder how that would’ve worked out for us

The Caps probably don't make the Oshie trade in that scenario, and you can't be positive that the Cup run still happens. As bad as the trade was and as much as Forsberg would help the Caps right now, I wouldn't go back in time and undo it

Agree with this 100% and will also add that I'm still willing to die on the hill that while the trade was definitely not good at the time it was nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be. Erat was a bona-fide top 6 winger at the time which was exactly what the team needed. Blame Oates for not utilizing him properly (and a lot of other things tbh).
