Yes, Hawks definitely move him if they can. But they'll have to retain half. No one is taking him at his full cap hit.

Yeah. And is retaining half really worth the difference between the 5th they traded for him and the 4th they are getting here? I actually kind of wonder if KD wants to extend Beau. He may not be putting up a ton of offense, but he fits the mold, is responsible in his own end, and there is probably more there than what we've seen from him. There are a lot of guys to consider extending, though. So we'll see how it plays out.

It depends on if they have other uses for their retention slots & how much $ he would be looking for. Personally, I have not been impressed by what he has brought & would not miss him if he were to move on. Maybe he could pull a Dickinson/Mrazek & show he has more to offer in a full season but as his best (offensive) season was like 7 years ago I doubt it. I think they could find a winger who is defensively responsible & have more offensive potential, but Maybe I’m overly optimistic.

Yeah. I'm not saying I was particularly impressed with him, either. But we are gonna need bodies next season, and we still have more cap to fill.

I don't see Beau as a guy the Hawks would keep for next season. He hasn't been anything special. Hawks can't roll essentially the same roster as this season next season too. Need to make some attempt to at least selectively upgrade. If the Hawks can get better than the 5th they gave up to acquire Beau, they should take it.

See above.

I don't think they are gonna make the kind of changes anyone is expecting or wants. I'd bet that most, if not all, of the guys on next years roster, are already in CHI. "Improving" is subjective. The NHL is fickle. We could run back the same roster and have drastically different results. The improvements we need to see are in the young players, and then maybe some systems/chemistry improvements would be nice to see, as well. At most, maybe they bring someone in to play with Bedard, but any improvements will likely be mild and short term.

So, bringing back Beau as a stop gap with a slight glimmer of upside/flippability, is completely within the realm of possibility. There are certainly other options, though.
