Would be absolutely hilarious for Mantha to regain all his confidence just to be sent to a Laviolette coached team. I think Caps accept this as-is but don't think NYR would be interested in Mantha. Something around Dowd for Goodrow ++ I do think is a good fit for both sides though.

I mean that's what the ++ part of it would be. I think they are in a pretty unique spot with SO much cap room that taking on a contract like Goodrow that is crippling for a real contender but not for WSH if they can get some premium assets out of it is a smart way to go.

I wouldn't be opposed to a deal around Dowd for Lindgren or a similar good player on cheaper contract for better player on more expensive contract deal (like a reverse Niskanen for Gudas) but I think those would probably have to wait until the offseason. Idk why NYR or any other contender would give up a player of Lindgren's caliber right before trying to make a deep run.
