Top-6 centers are impossible to find (outside the draft)

Maybe try NYI. They have been playing Barzal on wing. Or LAK who have swapped Byfield to center and Dubois to wing.

We've certainly seen Danault as an idea get a point blank refusal from LA fans already but Nelson has also been mentioned a fair few times on here as far as the Isles go. Both are possibly a bit older than Avs ideally would want although Danault at least has some term as a fit. Not sure I'd want to be trading Byram for either though. Young and with term is rare as the proverbial rocking horse **** (I guess a bit like the young but experienced bit in job interviews). Eriksson Ek would probably be the ideal but would require a mahoosive overpay. If only McLeod had better offensive numbers....then the conversation might really be getting started but NJ would probably be even more loathe to move him and rightly so.

If McLeod even just keeps up his offensive numbers from this year (his 5v5 offense is great he just doesn’t play on either power play) he’s gonna be worth so much. The problem is this season may be a fluke

Yep it's going to be a hard one to know what to do. Cash in and sell high (assuming there are those kinds of offers for him) or keep him and maybe watch him 'fall back to earth'. That said, even if he reverts to what he was prior to this year (which I'm betting he won't) then he's worth still keeping around as long as he doesn't get overpaid.

Yeah even worst case he’s still a rock solid defensive bottom 6 C who wins draws better than anyone else in the league
