We also had Ostlund ranked top 5 in 2022 and tried to trade up to get him but were unsuccessful. He just led Sweden to almost winning gold in the WJC. He’s a stud. Maybe if we feel he’ll be better than what might be available with our pick this year we pull the trigger on a deal like this. And Krebs is a nice throw in to level the deal out. He hasn’t been given much opportunity there, hasn’t been a good fit.

Sabres wouldn't be trading these two for futures. Only a player they need right now. Like a young defensive rhd closing in on entering his prime.

Sure they would, hell they have no need for Krebs and have proven that by not playing the kid. They’d probably love to have that pick to select a RD. But most of all, why not? They’re getting the much better deal value wise here, they’d be stupid to say no. That pick is likely top 8 and knowing Buffalo they’ll go on a run at the end of the season and end up picking in the teens with their pick.
