Walker is available but return should be a late 1st or a high/mid 2nd (depending on the market). The Flyers don't need another RW.

I don't think Malkin is worth that. He still has talent but he's a liability defensively. If we are pushing our pieces in like that I'd prefer Buchnevich.

Of course you need the right marker for that, but If noone offers a 1st, you just take a 2nd that's it.
A 3rd and a 24yo AHL winger won't get you Walker or a comparable RHD, especially retained.

Probably not enough for walker, considering the 3rd is probably 75th overall and Karlsson is a 24 yr old AHLer who doesn;t carry tons of value.

Malkin is actually ranked 50th in expected goals against per 60. Buchnevich is ranked 145th. The reason that is said about Malkin is because he doesn't always backcheck and can look lost in the defensive zone. But, you have to take into account that his Corsi is very good and it's hard to score when you don't have the puck.

A 37yo who is 33rd in the NHL in goals, 57th in points. (5v5).
Who has a 62% corsi in all situations (23rd in the NHL) and is ranked 50th in expected goals against per 60 (5v5). He is still playing at a very high level.

Will that continue? I have no idea. But he is still among the best 2C in the NHL.

Malkin is Not a fit in our system.would get very easily exposed for no back checking. We dont need another degensive liability.Just my opinion.

Oh fair enough. I am not saying he would be good or bad or is worth what OP proposed. I was just saying the montra that "Malkin is bad defensively" is incorrect.

Kuzmenko actually tries to backcheck and still hasn't found a way to coexist in Tocchet's system. Malkin would be 10x worse.

Buchnevich is trusted on the PK and late game situations.
