Turcotte

Created by: Antorche
Team: 2023-24 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 23, 2024
Published: Jan. 23, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
LA needs a goalie and MTL needs offense. If I'm right Turcotte and Caufield are friends so this might help Turcotte. Might need a 3rd team to make the cap work but that is if a team is willing to retain on Allen and that's a big IF. Pearson returns to LA which he help won 2 Stanley cup so little reunion there. Pearson returns to LA so little reunion of Stanley cup winner

What would MTL need to add ? I know he was selected 5th ovr but he's one of not many to almost never play in the nhl because he never took a step forward. MTL traded for dach and newhook from this draft for a first and something in both cases but they were nhl guys that already made a small mark in the big league, Turcotte doesn't have a point in 12 games in the nhl

I think LA would only move him for an overpayment. Otherwise they're like happy to wait and see with him. He's shown flashes of talent but not consistently. Overpaying is the main crux of a Turcotte deal

The Kings have no place for Pearson -- Los Angeles has 7 forwards plus C/Ws Pierre-Luc DuBois and Quinton Byfield who have more points than he does, and have plenty of depth forwards to ride out the season without needing him even in case of injury. Rittich has better stats than Allen and is 25% of the cost in cap. I don't think that the Kings would pick up either guy off waivers.

Los Angeles has been patient with Turcotte so far, just as they were with Byfield -- it'll probably take something much more appealing to get him out of California.

Turcotte always looks good when he's healthy. He hasn't been held out of the NHL because he hasn't been good enough, he's been held out because he keeps getting injured.

The Kings are in no rush to move him. He'll spend the rest of the season in the AHL and the Kings will try him out in the NHL next season.
