So rangers acquire a C/LW and RD which they have plenty of and trade away RW which they have none of. No thanks

The Rangers don’t need an RHD, and they don’t have a place for Mittelstadt on the roster/won’t be able to afford his extension.

Its not like they're losing an impact player this season. Imo they'll have to start considering the future at C as Zib and Trochek aren't getting any younger and will likely start to decline soon. I think a trade like this, that makes their team better and could potentially extend their window, while not having to give up a huge price, and can offer an extension for a similar price to the C's they have now, would be appealing to them. Obviously they'd probably have to make a corresponding move to afford extension

I think theres a player there. Fits with the timeline of the future core and is different than any young Fwd prospect/nhl player they have, as he's really strong defensively and has good instincts in all 3 zones.

6 more even strength points than Trochek, 13 more than Zib

He has 3 goals and plays 13 mins a night. Why should we give up anything of value for him?

What does that have to do with anything? Unless the Sabres were taking back one of them there would still be a logjam at Center or LW.

They still have no need Mittelstadt since he’ll be behind Mika, Trocheck, and maybe chytil as a center, and behind Kreider and Panarin as a left winger

No need for Joki since he’ll be behind Fox, Trouba and Schneider

Because the rangers don't need to move him.
He makes under 2.5 he's gonna make under 2.5 next season. He's currently a middle 6 defensive first player, whos struggling to get his offensive touch back.
He's 23 years old. He's not 38 and terrible. He's a season removed from 40 points, while bringing high end defense to a team that struggles with that.
The rangers need to take advantage of a player who's making under 2.5m not move him for a player who immediately needs an extension.

You want Kakko, great, Overpay for him. We don't need to move him.

If u wanna put Kakko on our 4th line, then fine
But you don’t give up a Top6 Center for that
That’s just plain stupid

U don’t give up Mitts for a defensive forward
No freaking way
