He’s not been too bad. Pretty slow due to age and a black hole offensively. Doesn’t really contribute to the team but a good extra F for depth and vet leadership.

Well there is a saying "not every team is for a player as not every player is for a team"

We have seen it time and time again where players suceed on one team only to fail with another

David Clarkson thrived with NJ and failed in TOR

Seen it also happen with Ritchie, Rooney, Amadio, etc.

Maybe NYR were not for him who knows. Either way nothing significant lost and if he rebounds well its a feel good story

I mean he literally can’t skate or contribute anything except faceoffs and blocked shots lol. I’d say rangers aren’t the problem

Did well in NSH, MIN, and SJS despite some of those so called issues

Literally some of the same issues listed were what those three teams were saying yet he still did well by depth standards

And its not an attack on NYR but often we see this at times certain players do well with specific teams and its mainly due to the systems being used. Its like when Ritchie came to Toronto. Great in Boston awful here.

Would not surprise me if he goes to a team like VGK and does better

I mean I’m not saying it’s an attack on the NYR, but when was the last time he was a useful player with good analytics? People like to say he’s good because he blocks shots, which is incorrect. Yes blocking shots is great, but when you’re constantly playing defense because you can’t create offense or puck possession then you’ll be blocking a lot of shots

He looked pretty good in SJS and in Pitt last season considering his role to be expected.

At this point hes more of a defensive forward which is fine for 4th lines as often u need guys like this. Its just for every team

To me a team like VGK fits Bonino better as they prefer to use guys like this at times

I mean vesey is a defensive forward, but still chips in goals and has some speed

Maybe his age finally caught up to him

Age is a factor but also style of play and other factors. As said before rangers just may have not been the team for Bonino. Maybe going elsewhere will do him some good as some teams are built for guys like this

That's what we all thought at first, spare at best. He was too slow 10yrs ago, now he's painfully slow and never wins any battles

can you give me an example of a play like during breakouts does he have trouble carrying the puck up ice? From the last tampa vs rangers game i saw rags play kind of a heavy style like they may play fast but it looked slow but strong like just walking through stick checks during zone entries and guys bouncing off. I don't remember Bonino but i wasn't focusing on the rangers guys.

He wins faceoffs then simply does the butterfly wings, period. He leans on people on the boards but never wins the battles, too slow to hit, and the puck jumps off of his blade instantly, I don't think I've seen him make a pass yet lol
